Compare Brightness
Lumens
The amount of light that comes from a bulb, which has commonly been measured in watts. The more lumens, the brighter the bulb.Wattage
A measurement of the power delivered to a component of an electric circuit (allowing a one-ampere current to flow through the component under the pressure of 1 volt.)Bulb Shape
Bulb shapes are denoted with a letter, which describes the shape, and a number, which indicates the size. The number indicates the diameter of the light bulb at its widest part in eighths of an inch.Base
The part of the bulb that connects to the fixture and its power supply. Bulb bases are denoted with the letter E, and a number which indicates the diameter of the bulb base at its widest part in millimeters.Voltage
Indicates how much voltage a bulb can accept via the fixture it's installed in.Light Color Temperature
The relative color from a light source, measured on the Kelvin temperature scale. Warm light is lower in color temperature (2700-3000 K) and cool, blue light is higher (5000 K).Average Rated Life
The average amount time that a bulb is expected to last.CRI
CRI = color rendering index. This number, which can go from 0 to 100, measures the ability of a light or bulb accurately renders colors. The higher the number, the better, with most quality bulbs these days measuring at least in the 80s.Manufacturer IDs: view

Easy to install and looks great!
Verified Buyer
I bought this for a remodel in a mid century home, and due to the beautiful wood ceiling I couldn't move the existing j-boxes. So I went with a complete set-up with Tech Lighting and love it!!
When a remote transformer won't work...Use these.
Low voltage monorail lighting allows me to get the lighting on objects and avoid the glare of overhead fixtures. Since most of us are not doing ground-up construction, we have some limitations. If I can get a J-box and switch 'somewhere' in the space, the surface transformer + monorail will help me get light to the right place. Remember to pay attention to the wattage (150watt vs 300 watt) AND the size of the stand-off bracket. The 150 watt uses a 3" stand-off, but the 300 watt uses the 4" ( or 4.5") stand-off. Lumens will assist you. Some people prefer the white to blend with the ceiling, but I've typically used the Sating Nickel to match the rail. Also, determine whether Magnetic or Electronic is best. Your dimmer must match. I use Electronic, because it will work for Halogen and also convert to LED if I switch in the future. Images show the transformer with in-line section of monorail AND a 'T' section of monorail.

Engineering is ok but wiring is a challenge
My electrician installed the base (with the transformer) to the ceiling. This unit is very heavy so it requires reinforcement to support the weight. When I was about to attach the monorail to the unit I discovered that the center post which holds (and powers) the monorail was dangling by the wire. Upon removing the cover, it turned out that the set-screw holding the power connector was loose. In addition, there was only one wire from the transformer attached to the power connector. I don't know if it arrived that way or if the electrician borked it. I needed to detach the one wire from the transformer lead, and then I was stumped about which wires should actually be connected because the wiring diagrams and descriptions (wire colors) don't match what you find inside the unit. It may be that this discrepancy confused my electrician and he wired things incorrectly. Waiting on clarification from Tech Lighting technical support.
The product is excellent
Product has a high quality brushed chrome finish and works perfectly with the spot lights that I have, which are also from Tech Lighting.
