Does the heating pad stay on or does it turn off after a certain time like other heating pads?

The heating pad turns on when your pet sits on it and turns off when they step off of it. Have used these for my outdoor cats for years with no issues at all. They work great and keep the cats nice and toasty in the cold weather. The pads don't get too hot, just a comfortable temperature

Mixed impressions

I purchased a tent a few years ago from Chewy that looks like this tent, but was overall a better tent. The The heating pad on this one I just pruhased is not as padded as the one I had purchased previously. Also, the walls and roof on this new one are not padded like the first one I purchased, so there is less insulation, which is important to us here in the midwest. The one improvement is the addition of 4 grommeted tabs attahed to the base, which allows you to secure the tent to a wooden board or platform. Maybe I just didnt notice that there was more than one model offered. I replaced the plastic doors with slit leather flaps, which I think makes access easier.

Helping a stray

Our neighbor cared for the stray cats in the neighborhood by having food and a shelter house on her porch. She recently went into a nursing home so we wanted to provide the same in her absence. I liked the option of having the heating pad only turn on when the cat is actually using, rather than others that require setting a timer. It was very easy to put together and the walls are durable. I put a pillowcase over the heating pad just to make cleaning/washing easier. We have coaxed one cat into it by leaving food inside the house.

Heated cat house

It’s a nice design and giving an indoor pet a warm place to sleep. It was easy to assemble. The price was good. The shippingwas , and Chewy’s customer service was very professional and generous in resending. A new cathouse there was a small problem with the heating pad cover being too small. They commended that I donate the previous cat house to a kitty in need which I thought was very compassionate.

It's Blue, not Gray. Pad cover is too small.

Am I missing something? The cover for the pad seems to be about 3" too short. Also, the heating pad itself seems about 2" too long to fit inside the house, it has to fold a couple inches up the inside wall, which I guess is ok since there's no heating element in that little bit. Also, unless you don't zip it completely closed there's no opening to feed the cord through the cover. Not sure it's worth returning, I can probably sew a pad cover that will fit.

great quality

we purchased for our kitten, since we are transitioning him from my shed to our home. It was ordered for his time in the shed. Since he took no interest, we set it up in our home for our seventeen-year-old kitty, and she LOVES it. This item is amazing for her senior needs!

There isn’t a hard floor!

Not for my inside cats obviously but for my trio of boys that I feed and live outside. I got a great wooden house that is heated and 2 will go in at a time so I wanted another to put on top. My biggest complaint is the floor is just material and the cheap Sherpa covering is too small for the heating pad which you have to fold over. The overall design is great. The floor should be hard too like the roof and sides. If you had it on the ground it would get wet and ruined. Will have to make a platform with legs and screw the tabs into to secure it. Other thing is the cord cover doesn’t cover the whole cord!? Why not-another thing to buy and fix to make this work.

Very cute and well made but with one big exception

The entry flap only works well in one direction - in! My outdoor semi-feral cat went in without a problem but couldn't push her way out and got panicky. This won't work for her. Back to the drawing board, will need to return this.

Sherpa Cover too small to zip well on the heating unit

The house is ok with front and back entry/exit, however the cover for the heating pad does not fit the unit and won't zip close. I did like the house, so decided to keep it and then modified the cover by adding another 2.5 inches to the cover so the heating unit would fit. This is being used inside of a barn, so not exposed to outside elements, but the description can be misleading if you want this house to be outside in the elements.

Color

Well they were not for me. They're for a friend of mine who live in TN. She has one house cat, but on her porch she has a bunch of ferals that she feeds and I bought the houses for those kitties and it's getting cold tonight so they'll enjoy it. She kept two and gave one to her neighbor. They both live on the second floor of their apartment complex
