Let your little critter bask in the warmth of the Zoo Med ReptiCare Rock Heater. This special self-heating stone is designed to simulate your reptile’s natural basking environment. The isolated heat source helps him heat up his digestive tract and aids in the digestion of high-protein meals like mice and rats. Each heater is made with a nichrome heat element that works to evenly distribute warmth and avoid “hot spots.” It also boasts an energy-efficient low wattage of just five watts. Plus, it’s easy to wash for simple maintenance. The ReptiCare Rock Heater makes a great addition to your snake’s or lizard’s primary heat source (sold separately) for a warm and welcoming tank.

Wouldnt buy

There was no packaging in the box to keep the stone still during shipment, and some of the edges broke/chipped. There was a pile of dust/debris in the box from all of its breakage. In our use, not really seeing it get hot and not even sure if it's working, we decided to just put it under the basking lamp and let it get heated the natural way mimicing the sun.

Hot Hot Hot

Had to take it out of my Bearded Dragons tank, it was so hot I couldn't put my hand on it. A waste of money. It was fine the first day but by day two it was a danger to my pet.

Gets way too hot!!

The middle top of the medium sized version of this heat rock gets too hot to hold my own hand on. It takes over an hour to finally get that hot, so plug it in before hand and test it yourself. Give it time, it can get really hot over time. I am considering gluing another large flat rock to the top to distribute the heat from the middle and block my snakes from touching the overly hot area. Now I have to go find non toxic glue that can be repeatedly heated and cooled without falling apart. The packaging claims it is 5 watts, so make sure to find a rock heater that uses less than 5.

Safety hazard

Yea, I know, you need to make money... but at what cost? Subjecting animals to burns and preying on beginner reptile keepers is still wrong.

Charger

Bought this for my bearded dragon which was quickly taken over by the iguana and the cats. They all like to charge on it.

Purchased for a ball python

So far the snake is very happy with its heat rock. No burns and had caused no problems with our electric outlets,

Good heater

My only dislike is that when my dragon poops on it, it is difficult to clean compared to other accessories since it isn't water proof. On the flip side you won't procrastinate and leave it unless you like the smell of baking dragon poo. Lol
