Colchester Armoire

I really love this entire collection and I would purchase more from this collection!

This is a LARGE piece of furniture! Please consider the dimensions and weight before purchase. I was surprised to find 2 sets of hinges on the doors - 1 set allowing normal access to the interior while a 2nd set of piano hinges allow the doors to fold along the sides to provide an unobstructed view if you use this as a tv cabinet. There are annoying design flaws such as poor drawer alignment requiring one to open both doors to open any drawer. My armoir arrived with misaligned doors and in these COVID times Wayfair was only able to offer a discount rather than send a repair guy....sigh.

I love this armoire! Here is what you need to know: 1) It comes in two pieces - a base and a top 2) It is very heavy! It required three of us to move it. We tried furniture moving pads beneath the legs of the piece, but we were moving it on carpet, and the pads just didn't work well. If you have carpet, I personally recommend keeping the top and base in their boxes to move them where the armoire needs to go. 3) You need to move both pieces (separately) to the spot where you want to place the armoire, because once you put it together, it is too tall to go through a standard doorway (I learned this the hard way). 4) Before you move it, I recommend taking out the shelves (they are screwed in for shipping) and drawers, and remove the doors. It makes it a lot lighter when lifting. 5) I thought I read some reviews that said no assembly is required, even though the item description says assembly is required. I can tell you that YES, assembly is required, but it entails only lifting the top of the armoire onto the base, then securing the top to the base with two screws. The hardest part about assembly is dealing with the weight. At least you know you are getting a very sturdy piece of furniture! Do not add assembly to your order, unless you absolutely cannot find some help. 6) Mine looks more distressed than the photo on the Wayfair website, but I like it that way. 7) It is not a bright white color (at least mine isn't). Again, I like it that way. 8) I really like that the drawers are made of cedar. (At least they look like they are to me.) 9) I don't think it would be practical to hang clothes in it, even though it has a bar. 10) The shelves are adjustable. 11) I also like that there are hinges so you can open the doors completely, for those who wish to use it for a TV. It also has cutouts in back for electrical cords. I moved into a house with very small closets, so I got this armoire for additional clothes storage. It is my favorite piece of furniture in my entire house! The armoire was perfect for the look I was going for in this bedroom. It certainly will become an heirloom piece.

Amazing, beautiful, quality wardrobe - its absolutely the perfect style I was looking for, and sturdy (also very heavy)! My only disappointment is that the door on the right has been either misattached or damaged, so it doesnt latch like the left one. But Im going to see if I can fix it rather than return it - this wardrobe is definitely worth keeping.

Cheap cheap cheap. Arrived broken. Wayfair did a great job replacing the armoire, however, the quality of the piece itself is terrible. Regret purchasing it.

This was perfect for my new 127 year old house. Very few closets in the house and this is beautiful and the size of a closet.
