I spent two days online looking for a round rug and was dismayed by so many reviews of substandard products and especially how the rugs had been shipped - folded and not rolled, which made the rugs defective in the long run. As one reviewer said, "How am I supposed to steam out the creases in this 10' x 13' rug when it covers my entire room with my furniture atop it, and the creases form a cross?"
I was deeply hesitant to buy a rug online given it could arrive folded.
Also, many reviewers stated the quality was nothing like the photos, definitely subpar.
However, it's hard to find round rugs in stores in my area, so I decided to give this rug a try, made sure it was returnable without having to pay return shipping (another complaint by many reviewers)
This rug is gorgeous, even better than the photos. First, one of the online close-up photos of the edge of the wool rug makes the rug look a bit thin and rough. The truth is the exact opposite. The rug is thick, luxurious, densely woven, soft to the touch. It's lovely walking on it barefoot, and lying on the floor without a pad on hardwood is still comfortable.
It's very well made, the loops tight and consistent, and the underside finishing is excellent. There was a subtle scent upon UNROLLING (as it was sent rolled as it should be), but if you're used to working with wool, you'll recognize the scent. We had to stick our noses onto the rug to smell it, and the next morning, we couldn't smell it at all.
Since it was rolled for shipping, the innermost 1/4 of the rug edge rolled up a tad, so we turned int upside down hoping the edge would relax flat, but after 36 hours, that bit of edge is still a bit rolled up. However, there is no way around this rolling up of the edge given it's rolled to ship and shipped in thick plastic to protect it, the roll solid and tight. It's the nature of shipping this kind of a product. You can see how much it rolls up in the bottom left-hand side of my photos. It's minimal and will certainly relax soon given wool is a natural fiber.
Again, the wool rug is lush, soft, and so dense that you don't feel any irregularities of your floor. In another part of our house, we have rustic uneven 12" tile floor, and even on that surface, the rug provides a soft, smooth place to sit or lie. That's how dense and thick it is.
The color is exactly what I saw online on the Amazon site. I thought the colors a tad dull online, and they are exactly what you see, a tad dull. Note that in my photos, the black looks solid black, but in RL, they are more a dark gray, so much so that I checked the back of the rug to see if they'd sent me the gray rug by mistake. I'd ordered the black rug, and yes, they sent me the black rug. So know that the colors online are accurate.
I am 100% happy with this rug on all fronts. It's exactly as pictured, the quality is higher than I perceive in the online photos, and they had the integrity to store and ship it rolled. It's so lovely I'm thinking of buying another one for the tile family room....well, maybe I'll get a different pattern, but I'll make sure to buy from the same manufacturer, LR Home/LR Resources. They make a gorgeous 100% wool rug, and what they show is what you get.
