This pedestal desk is a simple and classic design with ample storage capacity for my needs. The color of the actual piece is exactly as shown in the catalogue. The desktop is oversized which comes in handy in that it provides space behind the desk for chords, routers, etc when the desk is pushed up against a wall. But I can live with that, as I do have a few other small pieces in the house that have a reddish touch: bar stools back piece, a board with hooks for hanging coats, and a hallway mirror. So there is that. But I would have preferred a dark brown and black desk to match the rustic doors throughout my home, as well as the wooden shades I recently had installed on my office/den windows.
